As of September 14, 2009, we re-invented how MileMeter insurance works. New customers, as well as people who renew their existing MileMeter policies, will see an exciting set of improvements that provide better coverage and an even better value for your money.
With MileMeter 2.0 auto insurance, you're covered six months at a time, but you're
If you have a vehicle that is driven less than 12,000 miles per year, MileMeter insurance could help you lower your auto insurance expenses. Some have saved as much as 75% over their previous insurance bill!
With a MileMeter 2.0 policy, you are covered for six months at a time. You buy from one to six thousand miles when you buy your policy. You get the peace of mind of a traditional six-month policy, and all the savings and benefits of distance-based insurance. We think it's a win-win! You can buy more miles at any time, and you never have to worry about out-driving your miles. You renew every six months, just like you're used to, paying for any extra miles at that time.
Example: Let's say you buy a 2,000 mile policy. A few months later, you take a surprise road trip to see your friends in Savannah, Georgia. By the time you get back, you notice - wow - you've driven 2,100 miles already. Don't worry, with MileMeter 2.0, you're still covered! Just log into your account and pay for the excess miles to keep your policy in good standing.
With MileMeter 2.0, the dollar value of your unused miles will be credited towards the purchase of your renewal policy, subject to our minimum earned premium of 1000 miles per six months.
Example: If you purchase 4000 miles worth of insurance, and after six months you've driven zero miles, then the dollar value of 3000 miles will be applied as a credit to your renewal policy (4000 miles from your initial policy less the 1000 mile minimum earned premium).
We've updated our process for verifying your mileage periodically. During your time with MileMeter, we may also ask you for another photo at a random date -- similar to reading your electricity meter.
We still respect your privacy, and don't use invasive and expensive electronic tracking devices to report on your mileage. Instead, we trust our customers and count on you to help us keep your rates as low as possible. As of September 14th, when you purchase or renew a policy, we'll ask for a digital photograph of your car's odometer, with your driver license visible in the photograph. We realize this is a new step we're asking you to take, but gathering this information helps MileMeter bill you more accurately and efficiently -- and we can pass the savings on to you!
We'll ask for a photo when you first purchase, and when you renew every six months. We also may ask you for another photo at a random
time for statistical purposes.
Well, we certainly hope you do respond, since it helps us offer the lowest rates possible to all of our policyholders. If, however, you are unresponsive, we have to assume that you've been driving far more than you've paid, and will send you a bill for the additional premium due. If you neglect the bill, we will cancel your policy for non-payment.
Don't worry, you upload the photo to our website during the purchase process. It's really easy, and we'll show you how - just make sure you have your photo ready when you're ready to buy!
Nearly any digital camera will work, including those on cell phones. You can also use a regular camera, or even a disposable. When you bring the film or camera to your local drugstore or large retail store to be developed, they can give you digital files on a CD instead of prints.
If you don't have a digital camera, there are three alternatives:
You asked for 100/300/100 liability coverage and we've delivered. Previously, the highest limits we offered were 50/100/50. If you have a vehicle lease, vehicle loan, or a personal umbrella insurance policy that specifies 100/300/100 coverage we can now insure you!
Vehicles up to 15 years old are now eligible for Physical Damage (Comprehensive & Collision) coverage. Previously, eligibility was restricted to vehicles manufactured within the past 10 years.
With MileMeter 2.0, we've continued to bring innovation and common sense to auto insurance. You're helping us do away with the hassles of traditional auto insurance -- a confusing system of rates, discounts, and penalties; unnecessary questions that invade your privacy; and, of course, unfair rates.
